The start of something extraordinary

Kiwi open water swimmers compete in Mexico

Four Kiwi open water swimmers will take to the waters of Mexico this weekend in the fourth leg of the FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup 2015.

World Championship qualifiers Kane Radford (Rotorua) and Charlotte Webby (Aquabladz New Plymouth) will be joined by national open water champion Penelope Hayes (St Peter’s) and Troy Balvert (St Peter’s) for the race in Cozumel on the 2nd of May.

It will be the first of three events in the World Cup series for Radford, Webby and Balvert.

The meets will provide some valuable race preparation against world class competitors for Radford and Webby as they look ahead to the World Championships in July.

The following two stops for the World Cup send the swimmers to Balatonfured, Hungary on June 20 and Sebutal, Portugal on June 27.
