The start of something extraordinary

About the Club

The Wharenui Swimming Club, one of the oldest swimming clubs in New Zealand has turned out both Commonwealth and Olympic champions. If you aspire to achieving goals in swimming, the Wharenui Swimming Club, which has been built on years of tradition and excellence, is the place to be. Qualified and dedicated coaches will help you achieve your goals. You can compete locally, nationally or internationally.

We have four squad levels which culminate with National Squad led by Head Coach Martin Harris, that swim up to 10 times a week and aim for NAG's, Open's and higher honours.  Every two years Martin takes a team over to Queensland Champs to experience an overseas meet. We also have quality programmes for our NZ Juniors and DIV II swimmers and in recent years have been one of the leading clubs at both events.

Even though Wharenui is a large club there is a friendly atmosphere amongst the team, coaching staff and parents and a great team spirit that flows right through the squads that drives the swimmers to swim faster whilst still enjoying themselves.
