The start of something extraordinary

New SNZ database and website update

Development of the new Swimming New Zealand database system is moving along with great determination. We expect to have the ability to log into the new system in the next few weeks to allow us to complete initial checks on data that has been transferred across to the new systems.

There are four individuals from the four zonal regions that are playing a key role in the development, testing and subsequently the roll out of the new system. As well as Swimming New Zealand these individuals will be able to assist during the roll out of the system with the knowledge they are building through their current involvement. They are:

Northern: Brian Tong (United Swimming Club Registrar)
Central North: Karen Nixon (Bay of Plenty Administrator)
Lower North: Henrietta Latham (Wellington Operations Manager)
South: Amanda McLeod (Canterbury WC Administrator)

Once testing and development is complete, suitable days and times will be organised for workshops within each of the zones throughout New Zealand to present the new database to relevant people and administrators within clubs and regions. This will give them the skills to enable them to access, play, test and give feedback on the system.

The new website for Swimming New Zealand is also on track. This new website will make searching and navigating on the site logical and user-friendly.

In the coming weeks, time will be spent developing regional and club website templates for use by regions and clubs. This will provide a platform that can be used by clubs and regions, linking directly into the functionality of the new database at no cost.

Both systems are nearing the end of their design and the development is getting underway. We are very excited about the potential benefits of the final system and can’t wait to show you some screen shots in the upcoming weeks of what it all looks like and tell you about some of the exciting functionality.

From this point forward there will be regular updates on our current website so you can start to see our progress in ‘real-time’.

Thank you to everyone for your willingness to be part of this process and we look forward to working with you closely moving forward.
