The start of something extraordinary

SNZ Database and Member Management System Update

As many of you are aware Swimming New Zealand have recently gone through a Request for Proposal process for the implementation of a new Membership Management and Registration system. Last year the Independent Working Group review recommended implementing an accurate and up-to-date database. Swimming New Zealand has prioritised this and the selection of a provider is advancing well.

The database will be used to support the sport in all regards including sports administration, funding, and sponsorship purposes. This new system will allow SNZ to support and grow the sport of swimming.

Selection of a preferred provider is progressing well and we thought it would be an opportune time to update everyone on the process we have been following and where to from here.

Swimming New Zealand received proposals from six different organisations within New Zealand and further afield. These proposals were reviewed, assessed, and rated by a working group of six members. The working group included Stu Jacob (Sport New Zealand advisor), Rebekah Erkens (SNZ IT Project Manager), Kent Stead (SNZ Events & Membership Manager), Henrietta Latham (Swimming Wellington – Administration / Events), Chris Morgan (SNZ Learn to Swim Team), and Alan Hale (Swimming Otago – Administration / Technical Official).

From the six respondents, three were selected to present to the working group. A preferred provider was selected from these presentations. Swimming New Zealand are now completing due diligence in two key areas - the financial and technical aspects of the desired solution.

As we continue the process towards a new database system we will use various communication streams through regions, clubs, and the Freestyler newsletter to keep you informed. A timeline and implementation information will be published once the new provider is confirmed.

We are looking forward to delivering this nationally significant project that is central to the future development and success of our sport.
