The start of something extraordinary

2015 National Volunteer Week – Jeannie Sibun, Counties Manukau

Jeannie Sibun is the Swimming Counties Manukau President, Mother hen and known as Nana to most of the swimmers.

Jeannie attends all the Board meetings, bringing along supper every time to feed the hungry team who have all come straight from work.

She also attends all the Technical Panel Meetings and most clubs in the region AGMs.

Jeannie is a qualified official and is always at carnival nights officiating as well as at regional, club, masters and school meets.

She has introduced themes for the carnivals which are always a big hit and Jeannie is always the best dressed adult.

After a major operation this year having a hip replacement, she was still at the next carnival in a wheelchair making sure everything went well and still dressed up and helped out in the recording room.

She has a great relationship with all the Board, swimmers and coaches with the swimmers often yelling out to her to say hi.

“A very special lady that is most definitely our Regions outstanding volunteer.”
