Based at Discovery School in Whitby, Porirua Ally Todd Swimming offers quality learning experiences for all ages and stages.
The swim school fully renovated and manage the facility on the school site to ensure local schools and community groups have a place to learn to swim.
All stroke skills, turns and transitions are taught and integrated into a comprehensive swimming programme which includes personal survival, water safety and survival skills at all levels.
The swim school caters for all ages from 6 months of age through to adults through their star bursts, chatty seals, star fish, bright stars and supa stars programmes.
They have recently finished off the swimming term with a fun and interactive water safety session which included many skills that enforced the importance of individual safety and the recognition of making safe choices in, on and around the water.
The swimmers were able to experience wearing a lifejacket, swimming through rough water, moving in chains, swimming under objects safely, HELP and huddle exercises and how to signal for help.
Encouraged to think critically the swimmers were asked many questions about the water and how they can make safer choices in this environment.
The swim school provides the overall water experience to all of its customers through encompassing the attitude that ”We all know that learning to swim opens up a vast world of opportunities for people of all ages in New Zealand. Our programmes are designed to develop confidence and competence in the essential skills necessary to enjoy life to the fullest in our fabulous water soaked land”.
