The start of something extraordinary

Gold for Swim Rotorua at Aims Games

Congratulations to our swimmers competing this week at NZCT AIMS Games in Tauranga this week.

Swim Rotorua athletes Emily Spear, Milla Theobald, Joshua Balmer, Skye Cox and Rebecca Lyall represented their schools in one of the world's biggest multisport events with over 8000 competitors across the various disciplines.

The event was demanding for our swimmers, with the heats session lasting six and a half unbroken hours on the first night - 293 swimmers competing from 107 schools with a total of 1982 entries.

Lining up alongside New Zealand's top junior swimmers on finals night, Joshua, Milla and Emily all raced to top ten finishes setting new personal best times along the way.

Milla took 13 seconds off her 200m back PB on the way to claiming the bronze medal, backing it up with a second bronze in the 200 freestyle.

Emily improved her PB and raced to a fourth place in the 200 individual medley, and then stormed home to take the gold medal in the 200 freestyle.
