The start of something extraordinary

Ashburton swim school embracing technology

An Ashburton swim school are thriving after a facility upgrade and the introduction of new technology to their programme.

The Quality Swim School is based at the new EA Networks Centre which was opened in May this year and is operated by the Ashburton District Council.

The new facility boasts an abundance of teaching space with the team also embracing the introduction of apps and iPods which are saving them time and allowing them to easily track their swimmers progress.

Having iPod’s sitting handy on poolside means the instructors can have the most up to date information right there including swimmer progress, attendance, medical conditions, and even birthday alerts through the app ‘Learn 2’.

When a swimmer achieves a skill consistently the instructor can enter this information on the iPad which automatically updates the main database.

Swim School Supervisor Stacey Hoets says this saves her a lot of time on data entry and eventually the system will allow a parent portal where the parents can keep track of their child’s progress.

Along with all of these changes EA Networks have decided to do away with certificates with students now receiving a ribbon on passing aquatic skill milestones which the parents and children love!  This has cut back on significant resource wastage and tutor time filling out certificates every term.
