The swim teachers at the Waitaki Aquatic Centre in Oamaru know that clear communication is the key when working with children.
On a recent Swimming New Zealand Swim Teacher Award course the participants took part in communication exercises, where the participants clearly demonstrated they have what it takes.
The group also brainstormed on how they could use the Halberg STEP method to be more inclusive within their lessons.
The pool session was one of the highlights of the day with the nine swim teachers fully engaged practicing all aspects of swim teaching from confidence building activities to stroke development.
All swim teachers came away from the course feeling enthused and ready to put into practice what they had learnt.
