The start of something extraordinary

Howick Pakuranga Pair Lead the Way

Howick Pakuranga swimmers Daniel Hunter and Ewan Jackson led the way in the latest stop of the FINA Airweave World Cup in Tokyo.

They were the only New Zealand swimmers to earn places in the final of the two-day meet.

Jackson, a Commonwealth Games representative, was fourth in the men’s 200m freestyle in 1:49.41. It was won by Japan’s Yuuki Kobori in 1:47.59.

Sprinter Daniel Hunter was sixth in the final of the 50m freestyle in 22.78s, also won by a homegrown swimmer in Katsumi Nakamura in 22.15s.

The World Cup continues this week with the final two stops in Doha on November 2 and 3, and in Dubai on November 6 and 7, with a number of Kiwi swimmers competing including Lauren Boyle.
