Commonwealth Games representatives Emma Robinson and Mitchell Donaldson led the way for New Zealand swimmers at the Australian Short Course Championships in Sydney.
Robinson was the only Kiwi to reach the podium, finishing third in the women’s 800m freestyle in 8:24.29, well inside her entry time of 8:31.04.
The Capital club swimmer was ninth in the 400m freestyle final in 4:12.85, just outside her previous best.
Sydney-based Donaldson was seventh in the 200m individual medley in 1:58.79 and eighth in the 400m medley in 4:20.41, both close to his previous bests.
Hawkes Bay breaststroker Julian Layton (Greendale) was sixth in the final of the 200m breaststroke in 2:11.22 while Masterton’s Isaac Foote was eighth in the 200m butterfly in 1:57.43.
Attention now turns to the Queensland Championships on 12-18 December with a number of New Zealand swimmers competing.
