The start of something extraordinary

IPC qualification for Northland official

Northland’s Carlrine Gillespie is now just one of four IPC qualified technical officials in New Zealand.

To achieve the IPC technical official qualification Carlrine took part in a two day training course in Singapore prior to the 8th Asean Para Games earlier in December. She then officiated at the meet to be assessed.

Of the 14 course participants Carlrine was just one of four to pass the strict criteria.

“This was by far the hardest and most challenging learning experience I have had since leaving High School!!” She said.

While the course proved challenging Carline thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“I have made many new friends not only from Singapore but other parts of the world.  The locals were so obliging and made sure that we were enjoying our time in Singapore even though we had little down time.”
