The start of something extraordinary

Keen uptake for new SNZ course

Swim schools and teachers around the country have been quick to embrace Swimming New Zealand’s new Train the Trainer course that was launched in September.

More than 50 participants have so far taken part in the course in Christchurch, Wellington, New Plymouth, Auckland, Tauranga and Napier.

The Train the Trainer course is designed to give anyone in management, supervisory or training roles the skills, knowledge and confidence to provide effective training to those around them.

It provides opportunity for participants to identify their own strengths, areas for development whilst also working through ideas on how best to manage their trainees in the workplace through brain storming activities, group discussions and role play activities.

Those who have already taken part were impressed with the delivery and content of the course and excited to take away plenty of new knowledge.

“I really enjoyed the Train the Trainer course in Napier recently. Whilst we spend plenty of time thinking about how children learn and behave it was interesting to change the focus to staff and the issues involved in their training/management,” said Bev Mitchell of Bev Mitchell Swim School.

“I certainly came away feeling inspired by the course and would recommend it to anyone in the industry, whether you’re an ‘old hand’ or a newbie.”

Lorraine TePunga from AC Baths in Taupo said “The information was a great mixture of global information (e.g. about learning styles and communication), and other information specific to our situations”

“I came away with new knowledge and new tools to help me be a more effective manager.”
