Silver for Rasmussen in Queensland

Manawatu swimmer Mya Rasmussen scored silver on the penultimate day of the Queensland Championships at the Sleeman Swimming Centre in Brisbane.

The Kiwi West Aquatic swimmer was second in the 15 years 200m breaststroke in 2:39.38.

Thomas Wilson (QEII) was the only other finalist on the penultimate day of the championships placing 10th in the 15 years 200m freestyle in 1:59.12.

Bianca Donelly (Rotorua) notched up her fifth win for the week on the final day of the Victorian Age Group Championships in Melbourne.

The 13 year old’s latest victory coming in the 100m backstroke with a time of 1:07.56.

Stratford’s Joshua Gilbert also concluded a successful meet with a win in the 14 years 200m breaststroke clocking 2:24.73 which also earned him a second New Zealand age group record for the meet.

The other gold medal performance on the final day went to Jordan Wilson (Parnell) who was first home in the 15 years 100m butterfly in 58.02.

Girls 17-18 100m freestyle: Eleanor Wilding (Wharenui) 1:00.75, 10.

Girls 15 100m butterfly: Grace Soo Choon (Hillcrest) 1:05.12, 4.

Boys 15 100m butterfly: Jordan Wilson (Parnell) 58.02, 1.

Boys 14 200m breaststroke: Joshua Gilbert (Stratford) 2:24.73, 1.
