Eight New Zealanders in finals in Queensland

Eight New Zealanders were in finals on the final day of the Queensland Championships at the Sleeman Swimming Centre in Brisbane.

Wharenui swimmer Thomas Moot had the best finish of last night’s finals placing fourth in the 17-18 years 200m butterfly in 2:07.66. Maxwell Stubbs (Te Awamutu) finished eighth (2:09.08) in the same event.

Fifteen year old My Rasmussen (Kiwi West Aquatics) was fifth in the girls 200m medley (2:22.89) while fellow 15 year old Thomas Wilson (QEII) also finished fifth (2:15.86) in the boys event.

Other finalists included Xavier Hill (Kiwi West Aquatics) who was seventh in the 15 years 100m butterfly (59.71); Chelsey Edwards (SwimZone Racing) seventh in the 14 years 200m freestyle (2:08.29); Rebecca Moynihan (Raumati) eighth in the 17-18 years 100m freestyle (59.16) and Daniel Caldwell (St Peter’s) 10th in the 17-18 years 100m freestyle (52.67).
