There is a new face on the Swimming New Zealand Technical Advisory Committee. Gavin Ion from Waikato has been appointed as the new Central North representative.
Gavin regularly attends national level meets as an official. He represented New Zealand officiating at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney in January.
“I feel very privileged to be selected to represent the Central North area and will bring to the table my enthusiasm, commitment and drive to develop officials in our region and New Zealand at large,” said Ion.
“Like most parents, I got involved in swimming through my children. Since then I have developed a passion for the sport and the people and friends I have made through this shared interest,” he said.
Southland official Lyn Sutherland has been re-appointed to the Lower South position. Lyn’s most recent international representation includes the 2010 World Short Course Championships in Dubai and the FINA World Masters Championships in Italy in 2012.
Both officials have been selected for a three year term.
