Please read through the following information carefully for updated details on this weekend’s Epic Swim and New Zealand Open Water Championships.
LOCATION
The 2016 Epic Swim will now take place at Acacia Bay North located off Acacia Bay Road.
COURSE
The course has been shortened from 2.5km to 1.25km. A new course map can be found below and swimmers will be briefed on the course prior to racing.
FEEDING
Epic Swim feeders will no longer be on a boat and will feed from the beach. There is a part of the course that runs alongside the beach where feeders will be able to easily reach their swimmers. Recreational Epic 10km swimmers are able to stand in the water while fuelling.
Feeders for the 10km Championship will be on a boat at the far end of the course and will be ferried out prior to the start of the race. Please meet at 9.30am at the officials tent or miss out.
CAR PARKING
There is limited car parking around Acacia Bay North and please be aware that if you park on yellow lines you will be towed.
There is limited car parking approximately 500m walk away at Acacia Bay South (refer to course map).
We will also be putting on a shuttle service from the Lake Taupo Yacht Club to Acacia Bay North between 7am to 2pm. These will run continuously during this period. Thank you to the kind support of Hilltop School for the use of the shuttle vehicles.
BRIEFING
Briefings will happen as scheduled with all taking place on the lake front at Acacia Bay North.
All course and safety information will be covered in this meeting.
COURSE MAP
The full 1.25km course goes from the start buoy, out and around the far buoys and back down to the lake front and across again to the start buoy.
