The start of something extraordinary

FAST Swimmers Triumph again at Counties Age Group Champs

Thank you so much to our wonderful parents who completed our Team Duty on Friday night, manned the BBQ under extreme heat, fulfilled their timekeeping and IOT duties and supported our children throughout the weekend.

A huge thanks to Ria and Niki for coaching our children. Once again your positive, encouraging and caring attitude towards the swimmers was outstanding and much appreciated.

A special mention to the BBQ committee – Philippa O’Mara, Mel Baker, Karyn Madill, Donna Muir, Angela Te Kiri and Henna Dunn. I know you spent many hours organising a very successful BBQ. The bacon and egg baps were a triumph! We will let you know how much was raised for FAST once the accounts are done.

Congratulations to Philippa O’Mara for qualifying as an IOT.

The children were amazing. They maintained their stamina through 3 days of exhausting competition and were still getting pbs right to the end.

Congratulations to Zoe Lund who achieved 100% pbs. As a club, we had a 48% pb rate which was one of the highest at the meet and all our swimmers bettered at least one of their times.

We scooped 48 medals – 15 golds, 19 silver and 14 bronze. Well done team!

Our relay teams were:

11/12 boys – Ethan, Matthew, Blake and Nathan

Senior Grand Relay team – Lily, Leon, Libby, Matthew, Molly, Blake, Erin and Nathan

You were amazing, particularly the Senior Grand Relay Team who were swimming against 18 year olds!

Massive congratulations to Nathan for breaking the race record in the 200m freestyle.

Libby added the 400IM to her NZ Juniors swims and Nathan added the 200m free to his NAGS times, taking his tally to 5 – great swimming guys.

Well done to Shontelle who qualified for Auckland Level 1 (she actually qualified at Auckland Age Group Champs but I missed it) and Alia who qualified for Auckland Level 2.

We now have our final team for NZ Juniors – Leon, Ethan, Matthew, Nathan, Mikaela, Molly, Libby and Emma. Congratulation team, you now have just under 3 weeks to get in tip top condition. We know you will do us proud.
