It was a quiet day for the Kiwis on day seven at the World University Games. Matthew Glassford was the only individual representative in the 400m Individual Medley, and the women’s medley relay team took to the pool for the first and only relay of the championships due to the small New Zealand contingent.

Otago swimmer, Matthew Glassford, improved his ranking by five placing’s in the 400m Individual Medley, finishing in 25th with a time of 4:35.85.

The women’s medley relay team consisting of Kate Godfrey (backstroke), Emily McGill (breaststroke), Laura Quilter (butterfly), and Hayley Palmer (freestyle), produced a solid performance to finish 11th in 4:18.85.

The swimming now moves to the open water where the 10km events for men and women will be contested overnight. Troy Balvert and Charlotte Webby are the New Zealand representatives for this Olympic event.
