A Near Miss on Day Four in Kazan

It was a tough day at the office for the New Zealand swim team on day four at the World University Games. The Kiwi’s struggled to progress beyond the heats as the competition continues to produce world class performances.

Laura Quilter from the North Shore swim club narrowly missed the semi-final in the 100m butterfly, finishing 17th in a time just outside her best.

Wellington swimmer Emily McGill improved her ranking by two places in the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:44.74.

Troy Balvert maintained his ranking of 22nd in the 800m freestyle with a strong swim of 8:30.82, while Matthew Hutchins posted a time of 51.92 in the 100m freestyle.

The events that will be contested on day five include: Matthew Hutchins (100m Butterfly), Laura Quilter (50m Backstroke), Kate Godfrey (50m Backstroke), Matthew Glassford (50m Breaststroke), Charlotte Webby (800m Freestyle).
