The start of something extraordinary

HARLEQUINS TRIUMPH

The 2016 Zonal Championships were held at the Own Glen National Aquatic Centre last weekend.  Rebecca Cheyne, Zac Dell and Kiana Swain were selected to represent the Northern Region, along with Sue Cheyne who was selected as Junior Coach.

All three swimmers had two swims each with Rebecca and Kiana coming away with a 1st and 2nd place each and Zac placing 1st in both the 100m and 200m backstroke.  Zac was given the nominated swim for double points, with his win cementing the maximum 52 points for the Harlequins team.  Zac was also part of the junior boys freestyle and medley relay teams, placing 1st in both events and Kiana secured a Counties Age Group Record in the 200m Fly.

Harlequins were winners on the night, taking out both the Senior and Junior Trophies.  Commentator Mark Bone commentated "Pukekohe is a small swimming club, not heard from much before but, lately some young swimmers are coming to the fore".

Congratulations to Becs, Zac, Kiana and Sue.  PSC is a force to be reckoned with and the talent within our club is definately being noticed throughout the SNZ community.
