The start of something extraordinary

FAST victorious at NZ Juniors

What a weekend. Everyone is exhausted either from the swimming or the cheering, but FAST were outstanding.
Ria, thank you so much. All our swimmers were amazing. Your fantastic coaching got the team to peak condition and on behalf of the families and swimmers we salute you!
FAST finished 14th best club in New Zealand out of 85 Clubs attending (we were 27th in 2015) and had one of the highest personal best rates at 83% - well done team! We gathered 6 medals - 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.
Nathan was our standout swimmer with 5 medals and Fast's first gold. He pb'd in every event and placed in the top ten in all his races. His results were:
Gold - 400 Free
Silver - 50 Free, 100 free, 200 free

4th - 100 back, 200 back
7th - 50 fly
9th  - 100 fly
Nathan added the 200 back and the 400 free to his NAGs times and qualified for the Auckland Open Champs in 50, 200 and 400 free.
Libby also got a medal for Fast in her favourite event, the 200m individual medley. She pb'd in 8 out of 9 races. Her top 10 results were:
Bronze - 200IM
4th - 200 breast
5th - 100 fly, 100 breast
10th - 50 fly
Leon got a massive pb in his 200 back, celebrating his 11th Birthday in style.
Mikaela got pbs in both her races and improved her seeding from 21st to 14th in the 50 fly where she also qualified as an Auckland Level 1 swimmer.
Molly swam a very fast freestyle in her leg of the Counties Relay on Friday night and had a great 50 back race on Saturday morning.
Ethan took over a second off his 50 backstroke finishing in 16th place.
Matthew swam really well in 6 races and pb'd in half of them, saving the best to last in the 200 fly finishing 15th.
Nathan and Libby have both qualified to attend the Swimming New Zealand Junior Development camp which will take place later in the year. This camp is for any 11 or 12 year old swimmer who gains a gold, silver or bronze in a 100m or greater event at NZ Juniors.
We are so proud of all of our swimmers, congratulations, you have put FAST firmly on the map!
