Swimming shines at Mariotts Hadlee Sports Awards

Swimming received strong recognition among the 29 sports represented at the 2016 Mariotts Hadlee Sports Awards in Canterbury Friday night.

Halberg Award winner Sophie Pascoe was awarded with the Anstice and Associates Outstanding Sportsperson with a Disability of the Year Award.

Pascoe won six medals (three golds, a silver and two bronzes) at the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships. She was also a finalist for Sportswoman of the Year.

Swimming official Christine Cassin won the Gary Cockram Hyundai Outstanding Official of the Year and Marlene Morrison received her award for Lifetime Achievement to Swimming.

A notable mention also goes to Roly Crichton who was a finalist for the UC Education Sports Coach of the Year.
