Swimming NZ SGM Adopts New Constitution

The Special General Meeting of Swimming NZ was held in Wellington on Saturday, 28 July 2012.

The SGM agreed to the motion of the Board of SNZ. The impact of the adoption of the motion is that
     • The Report of the Review Independent Working Group is accepted and adopted, including all its recommendations
     • The existing Constitution is repealed, and
     • The proposed new Constitution is adopted.

Details of the voting-
      In favour:     35 votes representing 14 Regions plus NZSCTA
      Against:        nil
      Abstentions:  13 votes representing 2 Regions

Outgoing President of Swimming NZ, Ross Butler, said that this was a fantastic and momentous day for swimmers, swimming and Swimming NZ.

“The sport of swimming, swimmers at all levels, clubs, regions and supporters can move forward. The successful implementation of all the Review recommendations, and the guiding influence and direction of the new Constitution, will provide the organisation with a pathway to support the growth and performance of the sport of competitive swimming, from entry level club competition to elite high performance.

I am so pleased and satisfied that the SGM has adopted the Review recommendations.”

Application for the new Constitution to be registered will occur on Monday 30 July.

Sue Suckling will take over as Governance Administrator of SNZ until the new Board is in place.

Chris Moller will chair the Inaugural Board Appointment Panel.
