Lauren Boyle nets award at French Open

Lauren Boyle wrapped up the French Open Swimming Championships with the award as the highest performing female swimmer at the meet.

She collected the award for her 8:22.93 effort in winning the 800m freestyle on the opening day, which broke the French Open record.

Lauren won the same award at last year’s French Opens and bettered it this time, with her swim the fourth fastest in the world this year, still three weeks out from the Commonwealth Games.

Her swim earned 946 FINA points, with the next highest the 914 points for Katinka Hosszu and Emma McKeon in the 200m freestyle.

The New Zealand team travel to Mallorca today which will be their final staging camp before Glasgow.
