Head Coach:
The Head Coach of the Selwyn Swim Club is Ben Close.
Ben began coaching QEII swimmers at Jellie Park in 2011. Initially just helping with the development mini-squads, he then took on an assistant role in covering all squads ranging from mini-squads through to top end Age Group and elite Triathlete and Masters swimmers. In 2013 he took a small team away to DivII Nationals in Invercargill where the team finished up with a 90% personal best rate and achieved their first qualifying times for South Island and Short Course National competitions.
As Ben has been a competitive swimmer for the last 13 years, he has a sound knowledge of very technical skills and is able to get hands on or demonstrate to help the swimmers achieve in the water.
