SNZ Photographer Wins Prestigious Award

Swimming New Zealand’s official photographer Simon Watts has been awarded a gold medal at the recent North Shore National Salon of Photography competition.

The North Shore National Salon of Photography was established in 1995 by the North Shore Photographic Society. The Salon was created to promote the art of photography in New Zealand through a prestigious, national photographic event each year.

The Salon runs a competition for New Zealand photographers every year, with the 2012 Salon attracting 2217 entries from entrants including members of 35 photographic clubs and societies from Whangarei to Southland and overseas.

Watts won the Gold Medal for the 2013 Digital Set Subject, H2O. His photo, titled, ‘Breathing’, was shot at the New Zealand Open Championships during the men’s 200m backstroke. The swimmer is Jared Green.
