The start of something extraordinary

Welcome to the Carterton swimming club.

Carterton Swimming Club is a local charitable trust that supports the development of swimming – helping to ensure any locak youth has the opportunity to swim to their potential.

Swimming is New Zealand tells us that swimming is the third most popular recreational activity with 34.8 percent e.g. 1,139,812 New Zealanders choosing swimming as their preferred activity (SPARC 2007/8 Active New Zealand Survey). New Zealanders swim for a variety of reasons including sport, recreation, and health benefits.

Carterton Swimming Club provides support to our youth and their families who want to participate as swimmers. Our Activities can be separated into two specific areas:

  • Club - Having completed Learn to Swim and now wishing to enter events for enjoyment, health benefits and wellbeing - in Carterton and the Wairarapa area.
  • Competition- For those who wish to swim and wanting to test their skills against all swimmers around NZ - includes events held outside the Wairarapa i.e. Wellington, Wanganui, Manawatu and the East Coast.

Click here for the Swimming New Zealand Parent Handbook, this will provide you with a range of information from training to nutrition to swimming lingo.

Please take your time to have a look through so you can be prepared for swimming and if our club meets your needs then contact us at cartertonswimracesecretary@gmail.com  or visit us at the pool in Penbroke Street.
