Kiwi's in action at World Junior Open Water Championships

Four Kiwi’s join the start list for the third FINA World Junior Open Water Championships in Hoorn, Netherlands this weekend.

Making up the team is recent Oceania 5km champion Matthew Scott (Enterprise), along with Oceania team mates Claudia Ashby (Fairfield) and Jackson Dawson (Waterhole), who was third in the 5km and 10km at this year’s national open water championships, as well as Tasman’s Talya Harwood.

Dawson and Harwood will be first in the water for the New Zealand team as they contest the men’s and women’s 7.5km event respectively with 42 young swimmers making up the men’s field and 36 to start in the women’s event.

Scott and Ashby will then compete in their respective 10km events with 36 to contest the men’s event and 30 making up the women’s field.

All four will then return for the 5km team relay on the final day of competition.

The championships run from 16 – 18 July.
