Meet the team for Glasgow 2014 - Glenn Snyders

Born in South Africa, based in California, USA and swimming for New Zealand at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is top male breaststroker Glenn Snyders.

One of the more seasoned members of the team Glenn has already competed at two Commonwealth Games (2006 and 2010). At Delhi 2010 Glenn claimed the silver medal in the 50m breaststroke and was a finalist in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

He has also competed at two Olympic Games, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. At London 2012 Glenn was a semi-finalist in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and finished in the top 10 in the men’s 4x100m medley relay.

Glenn first broke into the senior New Zealand squad in 2005 as part of the World Championships team that competed in Montreal. In the same year he also competed at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships where he claimed bronze in the 100m breaststroke.

From North Shore Swimming Club, Glenn trained out of the National High Performance Centre with David Lyles before heading overseas where he is currently working with Coach David Salo at Trojan Swim Club training at the Southern University of California.

Glenn is enjoying the sunny lifestyle in California where he trains in an outdoor pool everyday alongside swimmers from all over the world, including several Olympians.

Glenn will be competing in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events at Glasgow 2014.
