Auckland’s first Train the Trainer qualification has successfully been completed by Mairangi Swim School’s Linda Howes.
The Train the Trainer Course gives an opportunity to develop skills and understanding in effective training processes for staff and includes content on how adults learn, communication and leadership skills and best practise for providing feedback to staff and customers.
Linda has been working at Mairangi Swim School since 1990 and is the Staff Training Development Manager as well as a swim teacher at the school.
Her involvement with the swim school destined to be as the daughter of founders Margaret and Noel Howes.
She has also been involved with other aspects of swimming; she was a competitive swimmer for a number of years and was coach and club captain at North Shore Swimming Club as well as taking on administrative roles at regional and national levels.
Linda and all those who teach at Mairangi Swim School are dedicated to learn to swim and the swim school with over a third of them having been there for more than a decade.
Mairangi is a family swim school focused on water confidence, safety and every pupil learning to swim competently with the aim to give all pupils a great start to a lifetime of safely enjoying the water.
Their teacher education programme is extensive and ongoing, and is complimented by Swimming New Zealand’s swim teaching qualifications.
Mairangi Swim School have been sharing their passion and their goal of helping others build essential water skills for life for more than 30 years after celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2014.
