The start of something extraordinary

South Island Champs

The 2016 South Island Champs were held over the weekend at Splash Palace in Invercargill, with the meet proving to be a successful one for Wharenui swimmers.  The team swum extremely well and by the first day everyone had achieved a PB, made a final, received a medal, made a SC NAGS time or set a new South Island record - and in most cases more than one!  We had two swimmers who broke South Island records - Congratulations to Kyra and Will, and two more (Leah and Bryn) who were involved in SCWC relay teams that broke records.  The team ended up a respectable 1st in the SCWC region and 2nd in the overall standings, on 833 points, behind a Neptune team with just under double the amount of swimmers.

Well done team and best of luck in your build up to NZ Short Course Champs!
