The start of something extraordinary

Pool Redevelopment

Over the coming months the Wharenui Sports Complex will begin Stage 2 of repairs, this time occurring inside the pool.  This work includes installing steel bracing around the inside of the pool so that the building meets earthquake standards and updating the changing rooms.  Work will begin on the 12th September and is scheduled to be complete by the 10th November.  The major disruption will be that both small pools will be closed during the school holidays (25th Sep 1.00pm onwards) while the steel framing is put up.  All three chancing areas will also be closed during various times in the next few months, for this we advise swimmers to get changed in the newly opened changing rooms in the Rec Centre.  These are located down the hall on the left opposite the stadium.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause during this exciting time.

We are also happy to announce that thanks to the Christchurch City Council we now have a free Wi-Fi connection! Simply find the connection and accept the terms and conditions and you are good to go!
