The start of something extraordinary

SWIMMERS SHINE AT NZ JUNIOR FESTIVAL

Last weekend saw 26 of our junior swimmers compete at the NZ Junior Festival - Harlequins Zone.  The team collected 18 medals between them with 10 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals being won.  Some outstanding PB's were swum by the team in 78% of their races.

Swimmers who achieved PB's in all of their races were Abbie Gibson, Charlotte Hyland-Mills, Grace Perham, Amelia de Lautour and Eliot Williams.

Top female performer was Janaye Burns (11), competing in 10 individual races, bringing home 7 Gold and 2 Silver medals.

Thomas Murray (12) was our top male swimmer, also competing in 10 individual races, winning 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

Both Janaye and Thomas swam personal best times in 9 out of their 10 races, with Janaye breaking 3 Counties Records.

Our other medalists were Zahn Cooney (11) who swum a brilliant race and won Gold in the 100m Butterfly, and Darnika Howe (10) who swam an amazing 50m Breaststroke to collect a silver medal.  Our freestyle relay team of Janaye Burns, Thomas Murray, Amelia de Lautour and Zeal Jones also won a Silver Medal.

Coaches Jim and Maki were extremely proud of the outstanding results from all our swimmers and how well they performed under the pressure of such a big event.

Congratulations to you all on an outstanding meet!!
