The start of something extraordinary

2017 NZ Juniors

Over the weekend we saw the new Swimming New Zealand Junior Festival rolled out the country with over 1200 young swimmers competing throughout the country.  Wharenui sent a strong 12 man team to the C-Bay Aquatic Centre in Timaru to race against the best junior swimmers from the South Island.  With heaps of PBs, great swims, and plenty of medals, the club ended up coming in third in the overall points.  It was awesome to see such a mix of experienced junior swimmers and also newer members of our club succeeding which bodes well for the future.  The team spirit shown by the children was also fantastic and nearly resulted in us getting kicked out of the restaurant as we were too noisy!!!  All in all it was a very successfully meet and we look forward to watching these young swimmers develop in the future
