Swimmers head to Rotorua for Division II Competition

More than 470 swimmers from 101 clubs will converge on Rotorua this weekend for the 2017 New Zealand Division II Competition starting on Sunday at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre.

The Division II Competition is a short course (25m) competition for swimmers aged from 12 to 18 years.

The meet has drawn a record number of swimmers from recent years with the last three years of the competition attracting between 250 and 350 swimmers.

Two-time defending club points champion Wharenui Swim Club will be challenged for the title this year by Auckland’s North Shore Swimming Club who return to the Division II Competition with a 25-strong team.

North Shore’s large contingent helps the Auckland region to boast the most number of swimmers, 85 altogether from 11 clubs, while Waikato has the biggest club representation with 14 clubs and a total of 51 swimmers.

The meet begins this Sunday 5 March and runs until Wednesday 8 March with heat sessions from 9am and finals sessions from 6pm each day.
