Auckland’s North Shore swim club have continued to dominate after the second day of the New Zealand Division II Competition in Rotorua.
The club, which boasts the largest team competing this week with 25 swimmers, leads the club points competition on 1,340 ahead of St Peter’s from Waikato, Coast from Auckland, Tbss Central City from Auckland and Howick Pakuranga from Counties Manukau.
In the individual boys’ events Mannix Fraser, 13, from Oamaru club and Michan Hunter, 16, from Palmerston North, both continued their winning ways now with four wins from four events each. Day two saw Fraser win the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle while Hunter claimed honours in the 200m individual medley and 100m backstroke.
In the females, three swimmers lead the way in the individual medal tally. Hannah Anderson, 15, from North Shore, Madison Fuller, 14, from St Peters and Anne Sait, 13, from United all with three wins apiece. Day two saw Anderson win the 200m freestyle, Fuller take out the 200m individual medley and Sait take home the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle titles.
The top 10 clubs after the first day are: North Shore 1,340, St Peters 966, Coast 772, Tbss Central City 625, Howick Pakuranga 593, Selwyn 590, Raumati 574, Hillcrest 557, Fairfield 545 and Rotorua 526.
