The depth of swimming talent continues to shine on the third day of the Division II competition in Rotorua.
To date there have been 69 swimmers who have achieved victories in the event that has attracted more than 100 clubs throughout the country to the age group swimming competition at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre.
Leading individual in the boys’ competition is Michan Hunter from Palmerston North with his fifth straight win. The 16-year-old grabbed his fifth win today in the 50m backstroke.
Also unbeaten with four wins are Mannix Fraser, 13 from Oamaru and Jack Bruning (Huntly) 13, both with victories today in the 50m backstroke to make it four from four wins.
In the girls’ competition, three swimmers have four wins including Sarah Birkett, 14, from Napier Aquahawks with wins in the 800m freestyle and 200m butterfly today. She is joined by Madison Fuller (St Peters), 14, and Hannah Anderson (North Shore), 15, who both won the 100m freestyle today.
North Shore continues as the leading club on 1,718 points from St Peter’s from Cambridge on 1,225, Coast (Whangaparaoa) on 1,107, Hillcrest (Hamilton) 954 and Selwyn (Rolleston) on 923.
