The start of something extraordinary

Community Fun Day Out at Porritt Primary School

Porritt Primary School in Napier is a decile 4 school with a passion for swimming and keeping kids safer in the water.  Like most schools in Hawke's Bay, Porritt have a swimming pool that is rather large and in need of some repairs.  Lots of children at Porritt don’t do regular swimming lessons, however with the support of the State Kiwi Swim Safe Programme and the dedicated teachers, children are on learning vital swimming and water safety skills every day during the summer months.

The dedicated staff and BOT members are keen to see Porritt keep its swimming pool and decided to hold a Community Fun Day Out to raise the much needed funds to upgrade the school pool.  Communities from around the area donated goodies for the event and everyone got behind the school to make the fun day exactly that.  After a lot of hard work the day arrived and the weather couldn’t have been better.  Fiona Hurley (Swim Safe Advisor) and Koru the kiwi went along to support the school and help out.

The school managed to raise a large sum of money to put towards the pool refurbishment.  Koru had an enjoyable day out with kids of Porritt School and their familties who supported the event.
