Harlequins Juniors Festival 2017

WASC (Whangarei) had a great representation of swimmers at the recent Harlequins Junior Festival held at West Wave in Henderson 17-19 Feb 2017.

Congratulations to the following swimmers: Isabella Bailey, Hayley Foon, Joe Gardner, Elijah Hansen, Tamsin Hodson, Lucy Nichols, Monty Parkinson, Caelan Stroebel, Tynan van der Veer and Kaina Whiu-Hemara. The majority of the swimmers featured in the top 20, while some made top 10 rankings. These are great results for the club and in particular the swimmers who participated considering many of the competing Auckland and Counties-Manukau clubs have national champions in their ranks for the respective age groups.

The festival also presented an opportunity for our swimmers to mix and mingle, cheer on, encourage and support their peers from the other Northland clubs Bay of Islands (6), Nga Papahu (2), Manaia (4), Dargaville (7), Northwave (9) Bream Bay (3) and Whangarei (10) as the clubs were under the banner of Northland.  All the swimmers were great ambassadors for Northland Swimming, but more importantly great ambassadors for their respective clubs.

A special mention to our club officials Jo Hodson (IoT), Jane Nichols (CTK) Jeremy Parkinson (Manager) and Gail McGunnigle-Farr (Coach) for contributing to the festival in their respective capacities.

Once again congratulations to our all swimmers and all the best for Rising Stars (10-12 March 2017).
