The start of something extraordinary

Rangikura School Swimming Sports

Rangikura School in Porirua is a full primary school with a roll of over 330 students. With 4 syndicates making up the school, swimming is a valued part of the curriculum for the school who have been a State Kiwi Swim Safe School for nearly 18 months.

The Pohutakawa Syndicate have recently finished their two weeks of lessons at Dash Swim school where their students made incredible progress. The teachers were extremely impressed with how all of their students participated well in their lessons, and enjoyed attending their lessons over this time.

Syndicate Leader Sarah Nui felt that it was really important that the students efforts were rewarded, and organised for the students to participate in a swimming sports event on their last day of swimming. The students raced in width and 25 metre events in both freestyle and backstroke, and following the heats, the students got to participate in the finals races. There was lots of excitement all round when Mrs Nui advised that she had organised a team of school parents to participate in a “kids versus parents relay”. The children were very proud to see their parents involved and cheered them on to a victory in the race.

It was a real pleasure to witness such a well organised and supported event for the school, and it was great to see the students having the opportunity to showcase all that they had learnt in their lessons.

Well done to the students and teachers of Rangikura School for another fantastic year of swimming. Keep up the great work!
