Spotlight on Quality Swim Schools - Synergy Health and Fitness

Synergy Health and Fitness is Wellington’s newest Quality Swim School having recently been awarded a Silver accreditation standard.

The swim school is run out of Atrium Towers on The Terrace in Central Wellington City and is part of the Synergy Health and Fitness club.

The swim school caters for pre-school, school age and adult swimmers and has a current roll of 85 learn to swim customers.

With the swim school being this size, the staff pride themselves on providing lessons that are focused on each individual learner and are proud to deliver a programme that enables them to encourage each of their learners individually.

Swim School Manager Hannah Altman said that all the children are known by staff and there is a very personal and welcoming feel about the swim school.

The swim school is incredibly proud of their salt water set up and recognises this as a point of difference among other swim schools. They have identified that many children have reactions to chlorinated water and believe their salt water environment offers customers an opportunity to swim in a pool that is not treated with chlorine.

Adult private lessons are a main part of their swim school and they are well known for preparing adults for their first ocean swims and triathlons.

The swim school has five staff that hold Swimming New Zealand qualifications, some of whom hold the SNZ extension course qualifications also including the School Age and Adult award, Teaching Swimmers with a Disability and the Early Childhood Swim Teacher Award. The staff have a combined teaching experience of 35 years.

Being centrally located, they are popular with families who live in central city as well as schools that are centrally located and therefore able to walk to the facility for their school swimming lessons.
