The start of something extraordinary

SNZ Education Course Success

Here at SNZ we are incredibly proud of the quality education courses we deliver on learn to swim and water safety in our community. We offer a wide range of courses from our entry level Swim Teacher Award to the NZ Certificate in Swim Teaching courses and Kiwi Swim Safe schools programme assisting teachers to teach learn to swim skills.

If you are interested in attending one of our fantastic courses near you, here is a brief overview of what we offer and some testimonials from our recent graduates.

The Swim Teacher Award (SNZ STA) is a great opportunity for swim teachers to develop skills and understanding in aquatic education. Our SNZ Education Advisors have many years of experience in the industry, those who have taken part in the courses have loved the examples and practical ideas they have been given.

“I feel that I have the knowledge and support to teach my class adequately in the pool” said one of the recent participants in the Kiwi Swim Safe Schools Programme. A comprehensive programme supported by Surf Life Saving New Zealand, Watersafe Auckland and the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation it provides teachers with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver a learn to swim, water and beach safety programme. “I was given great ideas for grouping my students and working all groups at once”.

For anyone wanting to develop their skills teaching baby and pre-school classes the Early Childhood Swim Teacher Course (ECSTA) is an excellent course. “It was a fantastic course; I was comfortable and able to ask questions and speak in front of the group”.

We also provide a School Age and Adult Swim Teacher Course (SAA). If you are unable to physically attend a course you can talk to one of our Education Advisors about Skyping into the course.

Teaching swimmers with a disability can often be daunting, the Teaching Swimmers with a Disability Course (TSWD) is a great opportunity to develop skills and gain confidence in aquatic education for swimmers with disabilities. Our tutors have many years of experience and graduates of the course have said, “The tutor was fantastic and busting with enthusiasm, I enjoyed listening to all your different experiences and it has helped me a lot”.

For senior swim teachers, pool deck supervisors, program coordinators and swim school managers there is a train the Trainer course to develop skills and understanding in effective training processes for staff.
