The start of something extraordinary

Records in Timaru!

Swim Timaru's winter meet proved to be a successful event for Wharenui swimmers with multiple records being broken including a new New Zealand record. Massive congratulations to Taiko Torepe-Ormsby for breaking his second New Zealand record this year. Taiko took half a second off the Men’s 13 year old 50m Backstroke record set by Finn Kennard-Campbell in a time of 27.37. This is his second New Zealand record after also breaking the 50 Butterfly record earlier this year. Adding to this Taiko also lowered his own 13 year old 100m Backstroke Swim Canterbury West Coast record down to 1.00.62.

Also at the meet Jenny Song broke her first SCWC record the 50m Butterfly setting a new time of 31.69 and Arowa Wilson the current 10 year old 50 Freestyle record holder set a new 11 year old record for the same race clocking 28.86. Well done to both these swimmers and look forward to seeing more results in the future.

Finally, big shout out to the rest of the team who collected NAG's or DIV II times and those that got monster PB's.
