The start of something extraordinary

NZ Secondary Schools Champs 2018

A team of ten swimmers from BOISC represented their high schools at the NZ Secondary Schools Swimming Champs in Hamilton from Fri 15th to Sun 17th September. This event is a highlight of the national swimming calendar attended by 573 swimmers representing 147 secondary schools from across the country.

Ben Turner swam very well achieving personal bests in all five of his races, as did Harvey Williams. Ben also qualified to swim 100m backstroke at the Div 2 Champs in Rotorua next March and Alexandra Ludbrook swam a qualifying time for 50m backstroke at Div 2 next year. Emilia Finer had the best race placings, finishing in the top 10 in two of her events and the top 20 for all her events despite being the youngest competitor at the meet.

The team all enjoyed the opportunity to compete against the best swimmers in their age groups in the country.
