The start of something extraordinary

Retailer lines up with Swimming New Zealand

Kiwi retailer Swimmerbro is the new name on the side of Swimming New Zealand to kick-start 2012.

The company, run by former North Shore club swimmer Jared Jamison, has become the official swim shop for Swimming New Zealand, as well as a key sponsor for this month’s Olympic qualifying event at the State New Zealand Open Water Championships in Taupo.

The company, which sells swimming and triathlon products online and through retail stores, also produces merchandise for a number of clubs and organisations including North Shore Swimming, Surf Life Saving NZ, and North Harbour Triathlon Club.

They are closely aligned to similar operations in Australia under the Swimmerroo brand, and the soon-to-be-launched Swimmerbok operation in South Africa.

Swimmerbro, with retail stores near the Millennium Institute and in Cambridge, will provide merchandise for all Swimming New Zealand events.

The company is a sponsor of the national 10km championship in Taupo on 14 January, which is part of the State Epic Swim. They have provided prizemoney for the event which has met with positive support from competitors.

“The prizemoney will bring international competition for sure,” said defending New Zealand champion Cara Baker. “We need international swimmers to come over to provide good competition.

“It is going to make a good strong race and obviously that’s what we need as well.”
