The start of something extraordinary

Kadince Christensen

Rugby player and swimmer, Kadince has the distinction of being the only person to represent New Zealand in both rugby league and swimming at the young age of 15.

In 2009 Kadince was the standout performer for Northland at the New Zealand Age Group Championships in Wellington.  In what was a first for Northland, the Whangarei Swimming Club competitor struck gold twice with victories in the 50m and 100m butterfly events in the 13-year age group. He was fourth in the 50m freestyle and the 200m individual medley and made the top 10, in each of his other five events. In doing so, he broke three Northland records, one dating from 1996.
