The start of something extraordinary

Kawerau Coaches further their education with Swimming New Zealand courses

Six volunteers from Kawerau Swimming Club have completed their Swimming New Zealand Swim Teacher Award (SNZ STA) and their National Certificate in Sport and Recreation – Aquatics (Swim Education).

The coaches and swim teachers attended the very first SNZ STA course in the Bay of Plenty with Education Advisor Erin Fowler and it is great to see that they have all completed the award.

They will all be ready when the new season starts in October and the pool is filled with learn to swim and club kids in the mornings and afternoons.

What is great to see is that some of the coaches and swim teachers are going on to further their education by attending courses with Swimming New Zealand.

If your club would like to provide the same opportunity for your volunteers please contact your nearest Education Advisor.

Kawerau Swimming Club operates over the summer months even though the free outdoor pool operates year round.  During winter the pools become passive pools – ideal for relaxing not for active swimming, as the pool temperatures range between 32 and 38 degrees Celsius.
