Taranaki SC Champs

The Team from Swim Rotorua have headed off to the Taranaki SC Champs.  

Day One Results

Swim Rotorua athletes on Day One claimed 11 medals and a further 10 Finalist placings. 
Bianca Donelley claimed the first medal of the meet with a Bronze in the 100 IM followed by James Baldwin Gold, Rachel Mead Bronze and Jack Weston Bronze in their respective age groups. James Baldwin in the 200 Breaststroke claimed a Silver along with David Boles Bronze and Jack Weston Silver in the same events. 
Newcomer Rebecca Lyall won her first medal on the competition pathway with a silver in an impressive 50 Backstroke time. Bianca Donelley won her second medal of the night with a Bronze in the 50 Backstroke. James secured another Gold in the 50 Back and Paddy Baylis a silver in the 800 Freestyle.

Day Two Roundup

And Day Two draws to a close with Rebecca Lyall collecting Bronze in the 200 Free, Gold 50 Breast, Silver 50 Fly and Silver 100 Back. Way to go Rebecca. Bianca secured Silver in the 200 Free, 50 Fly and 100 Backstroke. Great stuff. James Baldwin Gold 200 Free, Gold 50 Breast, Gold 50 Free. Outstanding. Emily Spear Bronze 50 Breast, Rachel Mead Bronze 100 Backstroke and Jack Weston Bronze 50 Breaststroke, Silver 200 IM. So 18 medals from Day 2 and a further 19 Top 7 placings.

Day Three Wrap

And it's a wrap from Taranaki championships where Swim Rotorua have raided the Taranaki treasury. James won gold in the 100fr, with Bianca taking a bronze in the 200 back and silver in the 100 free. Our senior swimmers started well with David taking silver in the open 400 im and William a bronze, with Rachel also medaling in bronze position. Not to be outdone Milla also got a bronze in the 400 im.
David followed up his im with two more silvers in the 100 br and 200 back. Tara climbed the podium with a silver her favored 100 fly, and Rebecca continued her rich vein of form with another bronze in the 100 breast, as did Paddy Baylis. Bronze was also the reward for a tough race by Jack in the 100 breast.
Other notable performances were Kaira taking 6 secs of her heat time, Skye setting new benchmark times and Samantha coming home hard in finals to active more personal best times
