2014 Honours Award - Donna Bouzaid


Donna has been involved with swimming for over 35 years. Initially she was a competitor and subsequently she has been a very successful coach.

In her swimming career two notable swims were conquering Cook Strait and a swim from Takapuna Beach around Rangitoto and Motutapu Islands to raise funds for the Wilson Home for Children.

Donna’s coaching career has involved her in working in Naenae, Masterton, North Shore, West Auckland and New Plymouth.

A particular notable success of Donna was coaching Lauren Boyle at the time Lauren won a Relay Bronze at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. She also coached Daniel Bell, who was a triple World Junior Champion in 2008 and he also lead the relay team in the medley relay that placed 5th at the Beijing Olympics.

Donna has been a Coach and Head Coach for a number of SNZ teams over the years.  She has also served as an Auckland Regional Association board member and chaired the Auckland Competition Swim Group. She has also served a term on the SNZ Board.

Donna’s skills and dedication to the sport and passion for it has seen her recently appointed as the SNZ High Performance Development Coach.
